New Locations Confirmed To Sell Harrogate Gift Card As Bid Expands Scheme To Boost Local Economy
Two new locations in Harrogate have confirmed they will now launch as a sales point for the Harrogate Gift Card as the town’s BID continues to expand the initiative.
The Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to announce that the Turkish Baths and Mercer Art Gallery will now host terminals to purchase the Harrogate Gift Card, alongside Harrogate Bus Station which has sold the cards for a longer period.
The scheme has secured more than £170,000 of investment into the North Yorkshire town since its inception in 2019 – and the BID team are looking to build on this year-on-year.
Bethany Allen, Operations and Projects Executive at Harrogate BID, said: “We’re always looking to drive, develop and enhance the Gift Card campaign in our town.
“A huge thank you to the teams at both the Turkish Baths and Mercer Art Gallery for committing to the scheme, offering an increased chance for people to purchase a card as a special gift for a loved one or friend.
“We’re sure that popular town centre locations such as these launching as a sales point will help to lift sales.
“It’s such a wonderful way to lock-in spend and boost our town’s economy, encouraging people to shop local across the year!”
Almost 100 businesses are currently signed up to the Gift Card scheme in Harrogate and the BID recently launched a new campaign to encourage even more local companies to join the scheme and further push the town’s economy in the right direction.
Ted Westwood, Cultural Venues Manager at Mercer Art Gallery, said they feel the benefits of selling the Gift Card on site will help to expand the gallery’s audience and could help to boost revenue and income.
He said: “We felt the benefits were shared mutually. Firstly, it is really important to support Harrogate BID and other businesses within the district. The Gift Cards are a great way to encourage spend in Town and raise awareness of the businesses where visitors can spend.
“Secondly, as a selling location, we have the opportunity to engage those who might not ordinarily or less frequently visit the Gallery and our Cultural sites - another string in the bow for our audience development.
“It is really important that we constantly expand our audience. As a site where cards can be spent, it has obvious positive impact on our income. Since we started accepting them, cards have been used for the purchase of everything from gift cards to pieces of art.”
The Gift Card is also available in a digital format allowing people to store it on their mobile phone, making it easier and more accessible for all.
