James Street - Essential Works On The Electricity Network

Work starting next week will involve two phases which will include excavation work on James Street, Phase one will commence on Monday 5th August 2024 for approximately 5 working days. We will be putting up safety barriers round the excavations to ensure safety. We expect to have the excavation filled in and the barriers removed no later than Friday 9th August 2024.

Phase two will commence at a later date which we will inform you of, for approximately 10 working days. We will be putting up safety barriers round the excavations to ensure safety.

Our work will take place directly outside properties along James Street and Princes Street. Unfortunately, the pay and display parking will be suspended over the course of these works, and we kindly ask that alternative parking arrangements are made to enable the work to be completed as quickly and as safely as possible. We will always maintain pedestrian access.

We understand that this work will impact the local community and cause noise and disruption; however, we will do everything possible to minimise the impact on residents. We will ensure works are reinstated to local authority specifications and we are committed to leaving the area where we have worked clean and tidy, before we clear the site.

Plan

Phase one will see us install a new cable across the road on James Street to allow for the installation of new assets in phase two, with the pay and display parking suspended this will allow us to maintain the carriageway as to cause minimal disruption.

Phase two will involve us installing our new assets and reinforcing our network across the newly installed road crossing.
