Well-known Harrogate Figures To Be 'jailed' As Part Of Unique Fundraising Event

A brave group of community leaders and well-known figures will be spending time behind bars (for entirely fictitious crimes!) to help raise funds for Saint Michael's Hospice on Friday 27th October!

Your Harrogate are teaming up with Saint Michael's Hospice to organise a Jail and Bail event!

The prisoners' only hope of freedom lies in raising £500 in bail money each with the help of their connections, friends, family and - most importantly - the public!

Volunteers include Harrogate Chamber’s very own President Sue Kramer from Crown Jewellers, James Rycroft from Vida Healthcare, and  Matthew Mackeness from Rudding Park.

They will be doing ‘porridge’ for their entirely fictitious crimes at The Harrogate Inn on Friday (27th October) and will have four hours to come up with their bail to ensure release.

During the event, they will have their mugshots taken, spend time in the exercise yard and most importantly, try to raise as much money as possible to secure their release and support the hospice care charity.

£34.25 could pay for a full hour of care for a patient staying at St Michael’s Hospice’s Crimple House Inpatient Unit over the festive season. With this meaningful contribution, our team can provide expert support with symptoms and help bring comfort at the end of their life.

£61.90 could fund the Just ‘B’ Hear to Help telephone line for a morning, so the trained counsellors can offer support to people experiencing grief, low mood, isolation, anxiety, or bereavement and help them feel less alone over the festive season.

The specialist HOME team deliver care 365 days a year. £150 could pay for their dedicated healthcare assistants to continue to travel to provide a week’s worth of care to a patient, in the place they call home. In this way, they can stay surrounded by the people and things that mean the most to them over the festive season.
