The Big Bamboo Agency raise £2.5K for Mind Charity

Foot-sore staff from a Harrogate-based PR and marketing company have raised £2,572 for mental health charity Mind.
The team from The Big Bamboo Agency took part in two fundraising events which saw them complete the 23-mile-long Harrogate Ringway trek, whilst several of them also took part in the Leeds Mind firewalk - walking barefoot across red-hot embers.
The Big Bamboo Agency voted to support Mind as its chosen charity this year, and was delighted to support a mental health charity, given the huge impact the Covid pandemic had on mental health.
Supporting Mind aligns with the work done by the company to look after the mental welfare of its employees, offering mental health first aid training alongside other mental health initiatives.
The Big Bamboo Agency team completed the Harrogate Ringway trek in slightly over eight hours, concluding with a well-earned drink at the Pine Marten Pub.
A few weeks later, the daredevils of the group undertook the challenge of walking across red-hot embers, at a fundraising event hosted by a leading firewalk company, where participants received an hour of training before stepping foot on the glowing embers.
The challenge was more of a mental one than a physical one, and demonstrated the power of mental resilience and belief. It is an extremely appropriate way to raise money for a mental health charity.

“It felt completely natural to support Mind. It is hard to estimate the cost of the pandemic on mental health, and we were keen to raise money for a charity which does incredible work in the realm of mental health.
“The Big Bamboo Agency embraced the fundraising process, completing the Harrogate Ringway walk and undertaking the challenge of walking on hot coals.
“The fundraising challenges we undertook emphasised the importance of mental health: walking in the countryside around Harrogate took us away from our screens and gave us a chance to have a proper talk, while the firewalk was a lesson in the power of the mind and believing you can do anything you put your mind to.
“We felt Mind was a truly fitting charity to support, and we look forward to supporting another amazing charity in 2023.”
