Team Changes at Harrogate Town AFC

Harrogate Town AFC are delighted to confirm the signing of attacker Tom Bloxham on loan from Championship side Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season.

Tom Bloxham

A product of the Spurs youth system, the 18-year-old has represented the Republic of Ireland at U19 level after being called up in September.

Speaking to the club’s website, Head of Player Recruitment Lloyd Kerry said: "Tom joins us as a versatile attacker who can cover on the left, the right or in the number 10 position. He is very energetic and suits our style as an exciting player.

"We have seen enough of him to recognise the personality he has. He made his first-team debut with Blackburn this season so I think he will be a good fit with the lads we have here already.

"We want to give a platform to talented younger players. We have had a good history of that in the past and Tom is someone who fits that bill. We believe he is an exciting player who can come in and have an impact."

Bloxham made his league debut for Blackburn earlier this season when he was called from the bench in their 3-0 defeat to Plymouth.

The attacker is fit and available for selection ahead of this weekend’s trip to face Stockport County.

Harrogate Town AFC are delighted to confirm the loan capture of 20-year-old Southampton right back Derrick Abu.

The German born, former England U17 international joins until the end of the 2023/24 season and is available for Saturday’s trip to Stockport County.

Speaking on the defender’s arrival, Manager Simon Weaver said: “We are delighted to get Derrick signed up on loan. He comes from Southampton and our recent record of players from there has been really good.

"He is an athletic full-back who can get up and down the pitch. He is an exciting player to watch, has great technical ability and speaking to him today we get the sense that he is ready to take this opportunity with both hands."

Born to Nigerian parents, Abu moved to England at the age of two, before he was scouted by Premier League giants Chelsea at age 11.

Abu would sign a professional contract with The Blues in February 2021, before joining Southampton upon the expiry of his Chelsea contract in Summer 2023.

We would like to welcome Derrick to the club and look forward to seeing him in the yellow and black.

The transfer is subject to EFL / FA approval.

The club can today confirm that Kayne Ramsay has completed a permanent transfer to League One side Charlton for a significant undisclosed fee.

Kayne Ramsay

The 23-year-old joined Town on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and has been an integral part to the club’s backline over the last 18 months.

His only goal for the club came in our dramatic Boxing Day victory over Grimsby in 2022.

Speaking on the transfer, Simon Weaver said: "It's mixed emotions for us today, we are really proud of Kayne and the development we have seen from him over the last 18 months. He will be a huge loss.

"This was an opportunity which Kayne didn't want to see pass him by and we can understand that. However, it had to be a significant fee for us to even consider allowing someone of his quality to leave.

"You never want to lose one of your best players. However, I believe in the group and the recruitment work we have completed to this point. This transfer gives us another selling point of this football club moving forward."

A popular figure within the club, Kayne departs with our best wishes for the future.

Winger James Daly has today joined National League promotion contenders Aldershot on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Since joining in the summer, Daly has made 14 appearances and scored his only goal in our 3-1 victory over Doncaster earlier this month.

We wish both JD and Aldershot well for the rest of the campaign.
