Rising Local Star Joins Harrogate Music Festival’s Acclaimed Young Musicians Series
A talented sixth form student is among the rising stars of the classical music world taking to the stage in this summer’s Harrogate Music Festival.

Krish Desha-Beerachee, who is currently studying his A levels at St Aidan’s High School, in Harrogate, will open the prestigious Young Musicians Series on June 29 at the Wesley Centre.
An integral part of the Festival’s heritage as well as its future, the Young Musicians Series has long provided a springboard for the great artists of the future, including such household names as Julian Lloyd Webber and Lesley Garrett.
For Krish, one of three highly acclaimed youngsters performing in this year’s Series, it is an opportunity to perform in front of a local audience. Having achieved Grade 8 piano with distinction aged 13, he won the Piano Championship Class at the Harrogate Competitive Festival for Music, Speech and Drama, and was presented with the overall Wharfedale prize in 2019. Krish achieved his Piano Diploma (DipABRSM) aged 16 with Distinction earlier this year.
His thrilling performance will include popular works by Haydn, Brahms, Rachmaninoff and Fauré in what promises to be a memorable occasion.

Also performing is James Morley, who works largely as a soloist and chamber musician and enjoys experimenting with electronic and orchestral music. The Australian-born musician, now based in Switzerland, has won a string of prizes including the Audience Choice award in the ANAM Concerto Competition final in 2019, and the Most Outstanding Recital Prize in 2020. James will be performing in the Spiegeltent on July 5.
The Young Musicians Series draws to a close with Amiri Harewood, this year’s recipient of the Dorothy Parkinson Memorial Award. Currently studying at the Royal College of Music on a full scholarship, Amiri has performed at prestigious venues both in the UK and abroad, including solo recitals at Steinway Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Institut Francais, and the Royal Albert Hall. He will perform an exciting programme, featuring works by Beethoven and Mussorgsky, at St Wilfrid’s Church on July 11.
