Packed Programme for Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce’s May Meeting

The economic regeneration of the Harrogate area and a neighbourhood plan for the town come under the spotlight in this month’s meeting of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC) in a packed programme which will start with a short AGM.

The May meeting, to be held on Monday 13 May, 5.30pm, will hear from key speakers Julian Rudd, who is head of regeneration (south) for North Yorkshire Council and from Harrogate Civic Society’s Stuart Holland and Paul Hatherley.

Setting the scene on the two topics that are crucial to the local business community, Julian Rudd will talk about the economic and regeneration priorities for the Harrogate area and will take the lead in an interactive discussion with attendees.

Members and guests are being invited to share their own ideas about local needs and opportunities and how the newly formed North Yorkshire Council could and should support the area.

Harrogate Civic Society’s Stuart Holland and Paul Hatherley will then discuss the vision for the town following the abolition of the borough council at the start of last month. They will pose the question as to whether a county-wide plan or a local plan would best suit the needs of businesses.

HDCC chief executive Martin Mann says:

“We are very excited about the May Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce meeting as it will cover subjects which are of intense interest to the local business community.

“The calibre of our guest speakers not only reflects the importance of the topics but also highlights how the HDCC acts as the mouthpiece for local businesses to be heard and to contribute to policies and plans for supporting the region’s economy.”

The meeting will begin with the AGM, reflecting on activities over the past year and setting out the chamber’s plans for the year ahead. Votes will be taken on the HDCC management group members that are up for re-election and for approval of the annual accounts.

The meeting will be held at the Cedar Court Hotel on Monday 13 May at 5.30 – 8pm in the newly opened Imaginarium. Registered members and guests will have the opportunity to network and enjoy some light refreshments from 5.30-6.15pm.

Attending the monthly meetings is a vital benefit of membership of the Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce as they give members the opportunity to meet and build fruitful business relationships with others.

HDCC works hard to create meetings that are informative, educational and relevant for supporting local businesses in an economic environment that can be uncertain.

They are usually held on the second Monday of each month at members' venues in and around Harrogate.

Our meetings are FREE for members and non-members attending their first meeting. Guests must then join to attend further meetings. To book a place, go to https://www.harrogatechamber.co.uk/events
