Harrogate Chamber of Commerce & Zero Carbon Harrogate Meeting

Sustainable business was the focus of November’s Chamber meeting, which was held on a blustery Monday evening at Harrogate College.

We were lucky enough to benefit from talks from a wide array of local experts in the field, with Dr Jane Gaukroger facilitating the meeting.

Jemima Parker of Zero Carbon Harrogate began proceedings by outlining the need for action from businesses.

We then heard talks covering some of the different angles of sustainable business, including some of the practical steps businesses can take towards sustainability; the concept of carbon accounting; how to develop a carbon neutral plan for your business; the support available from North Yorkshire Council and the LEP and finally, the launch of a new sustainability-focused peer advisory board in Harrogate.

We are very grateful for the time and efforts from all of our excellent speakers, who included Angela Macready of LCF Law, Helen Fox and Fran Woodward of Flotilla; Sarah West of Circular Ventures; Michaela Young of North Yorkshire Council and Andy Rickard of Sustainability Advisory Board.

A big thank you also to Danny Wild and all at Harrogate College for hosting our meeting, and their generous hospitality.

And thanks as ever to our Chamber members and visitors.

We return to Harrogate College next month for our final Chamber meeting of the year on 11th December, for our member-only Business Safari.
