Harrogate BID Looks To Expand Team With Two Exciting New Roles

Harrogate BID working to achieve business plan and objectives with launch of two exciting new roles. Harrogate BID is excited to announce the launch of two new job opportunities, keeping in line with the Term 2 Business Plan after listening to feedback from BID Members and business needs in the town.

The BID (Business Improvement District) team is looking to expand with two additional roles – Town Centre Support Officer and a second Harrogate Street Ranger.

After carrying out lengthy research, the BID is confident that the two new additions will hugely benefit the not-for-profit organisation’s work towards achieving the three new objectives – ‘Pride in our town’, ‘A vibrant town’ and ‘Voice and Vision’ – leading to accomplishing the overall Business Plan for it’s second term over the next five years.

The Town Centre Support Officer will work to support the BID team, board and members in improving the safety, security, environment and feel of the town centre. They will add an extra uniformed presence on the streets of Harrogate, alongside providing clear communication and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Some of the day-to day-duties will include working as the eyes and ears on the ground looking to share and provide a clear line of communication to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, providing a roaming security presence, linking to the town centre radio and CCTV system, looking to reduce shoplifting, retrieving stolen goods and helping North Yorkshire Police with incidents, as well as supporting and communicating key projects.

Meanwhile, the new Harrogate Street Ranger will join Chris Ashby, who currently works in a similar role, to continue to make Harrogate clean, attractive and a great place to be.

This reactive and pre-planned operational, public facing role is critical in the delivery of the Harrogate BID Business Plan. Working closely with BID members, local authorities and other influential organisations within the town, this new job will be a key element in creating a town centre that is welcoming to all.

Through both an online portal and verbal requests, the Street Ranger will have a variety of reactive tasks to respond to. These may involve jet washing or disinfecting the town’s hot spots, regular steam cleaning in high footfall areas, weeding and tidying in key locations, painting and upkeep of street furniture, removal of graffiti tags, jet washing business entrances or outside areas, carrying out weekly inspections to collate reports and repairing damage to levy payers’ properties.

Full descriptions for these new roles can be found on the Harrogate BID website or in the job listings on Indeed.

Anyone wishing to apply for either of these roles should send a CV and cover letter to info@harrogatebid.co.uk with the job title as the email subject. If you would like more information, please ring the BID office on 01423 582030 or email in advance of applying.

This role is not open to applications from agencies or third parties.
