Business & Economics on timetable at Ashville's Sixth Form Taster Day

Leanne Norton

Business Studies and Economics are two of the subjects that students can sample at Ashville College’s first ever full Sixth Form Taster Day.

The independent school is hosting the event on Thursday, January 20, which is open to Year 11 pupils from across the area.

Being held between 8.15am and 4pm, this will be a unique opportunity for current and prospective pupils to become ‘real’ Sixth Formers for the day, sample Ashville’s range of A Level, BTEC and Cambridge Technical qualifications, and experience the diverse co-curricular options that the College offers.

In addition to Business Studies and Economics, pupils will have the ability to sample five subject sessions throughout the day, with other choices including Computing, Government & Politics and BTEC Business.

Alongside finding out more about Ashville’s ‘future ready’ academic enrichment pathways and qualifications, prospective pupils will have the chance to explore the Sixth Form Centre during a ‘free period’, and meet with key members of staff, including Heads of Department and the College’s new Head of Sixth Form, Leanne Norton.

Mrs Norton said: “Our first ever full Sixth Form Taster Day will show what makes Ashville College such a fantastic place to study A Level, BTEC or Cambridge Technical subjects, and those attending will see for themselves just how much the Sixth Form has to offer, with a wide variety of subjects and creative opportunities on display.

“For those looking at a future career in commerce and industry, either straight from school or after university, we offer A-Levels in Business Studies and Economics and a BTEC in Business.

“Business & Economics are two of our most popular subjects and the Department has embarked upon a lecture series this academic year, bringing in a range of people from industry to talk to pupils about everything from post-Brexit logistics to the ‘metaverse’!”
