BID’s Teams On The Street Continue To Deliver Positive Results Making Harrogate Safe, Clean And Welcoming For All
Harrogate BID’s teams on the street have continued to deliver positive results to ensure the town remains safe, clean and welcoming for all.
The Business Improvement District (BID) fully funds a team of two Street Rangers and a Town Centre Support Officer (TCSO) throughout the year to support residents, visitors and the local business community.
The BID and its teams on the street deliver additionality in the North Yorkshire town, on top of the statutory services partners already provide.
Matthew Chapman, Harrogate BID Chief Executive, said: “Our teams on the street are a vital part of our Business Plan as the BID in Harrogate, working hard on a daily basis to maintain the jewel in Yorkshire’s crown.
“Both our Street Ranger team and TCSO are passionate about achieving positive results for our members, residents and visitors to Harrogate and continue to deliver practical, productive outcomes.
“Following the expansion last year, we’re very pleased with how our services have continued to develop to support improvements to our town centre.”
Carrying out both planned and reactive works, Sam and Darren, the Street Rangers in Harrogate, are always on hand to rapidly respond to cleaning, maintenance works and requests from BID members.
Last year, the BID funded new deep cleaning equipment to bring the service in-house rather than using a contractor at certain times of the year. This machinery allows the team to store 1,000 litres of water which can then be heated up to 100 degrees to remove dirt, grime and other tricky materials, such as chewing gum and moss, to keep the town looking the best it can all year round.
So far, the team have covered thousands of square metres with the cleaning and will continue to target key areas of the town centre.
Meanwhile, the BID’s TSCO continues to deliver positive results in his work to support, safeguard and improve Harrogate town centre.
Kiam, who joined the BID in the brand new role introduced in early 2024, has been on hand to deter criminals to help recover thousands of pounds worth of stolen goods.
Working alongside key partners, Kiam acts as the eyes and ears on the ground in a bid to make an effective impact and reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, as well as increasing reporting from the local business community and collating crucial data to assist with campaigns.
Any crimes in the Harrogate area can be reported either on the Police.UK app or by calling the force on 101 or 999.
