Henshaws Update

26 Mar 2020 by Gemma Young – major relationship fundraiser

As a valuable supporter and friend of the charity, I wanted to write with an update. As you can imagine, Henshaws as a charity is struggling to keep working under the new pressures, but we’re doing all we can to make sure our services can remain open, and where possible for services to move online, to keep supporting our vulnerable service users.

Our Arts and Crafts Centre is publishing online content - including a range of youtube videos - to ensure art makers are not left isolated and alone, and we are also working on home art packs and interactive activities too, plus much needed food provision for our housing and support services. Our Specialist College is also providing education packs for parents and carers to use at home as is becoming needed more and more, and we're already receiving really positive feedback on this.

We have now launched an appeal to help with the newly increased costs of our services and increased staffing costs to ensure we can support people for as long as possible, which you can see here https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/HenshawsUrgentAppeal It would be amazing if you could help share our appeal for funds, with donations available to make through Just Giving or directly through the website at https://www.henshawsarts.org.uk/donate/build-it-appeal Many of our students and art makers and people in supported housing along with those who attend our college have profound and complex health needs and social distancing and self-isolation are incomprehensible. We’re taking extraordinary measures to ensure we have frontline staff available, and a second line if our core teams are absent from work. Everyone at Henshaws is truly going beyond expectations right now that's for sure!
