Mike started his first opticians practice in Leeds in 1988 and has had 7 practices in North and West Yorkshire, East Lancashire and Manchester city centre. In 1997 he opened in Harrogate at the top of James Street. In 1999 he bought out a competitor trading from where Betty’s now have their shop and in 2007 relocated further down Parliament Street. Last year he sold his Harrogate practice to Bayfields Opticians and his other businesses have also now been sold, to other buyers. Mike continues to own some commercial property here in Harrogate
Mike was schooled in Goldsborough and Knaresborough went to university in Birmingham, lived in Bristol for a few years where he met his wife Julie, but has lived most of his adult life in Harrogate.
Mike has been a member of Chamber since 2011, been on the management group since 2013 and a Vice President for the last 2 years.
He is the Chamber lead on the development of a Harrogate BID proposal and his objective for the coming year is to increase membership numbers by increasing membership benefits
Mike leads the Town Centre Focus Group.
